Perpectua Socorro “Grace” Padao (64), she passed away on March 29, 2021. Grace was born and raised in Bilar, Bohol Philippines on June 26, 1956. She was the proud daughter of Porfirio Galeon and Gaudiosa Baquial. She lost her father at a young age and was left as the primary breadwinner for her 9 siblings. She retired from her government job and became a full time housewife to Edgar Padao and mother. She migrated to the US and worked as a caregiver for the elderly for a time. She worked for AFIRE (Alliance of Filipinos for Immigrant Rights and Empowerment), as an office assistant and a volunteer community organizer. Perpectua defended the Domestic Bill of Rights and went to Springfield Illinois to advocate for people and to make sure the bill passed together with other volunteers. Grace goes above and beyond in service for people, during the COVID 19 pandemic, she helped caregivers and other domestic workers by calling and sending them aid through the Coronavirus care fund which was distributed by the AFIRE office. She stood up for what she believed in and fought for what she believed was right. She was a devout catholic and a devotee of the Divine Mercy Apostolate.
