On Wednesday, Feb 17, 2021, Mary R. (nee Foglia) Pradal, loving wife and mother, passed away at the age of 87.
Mary was born in the beautiful city of Naples, Italy. She came to America as a US Citizen in 1953 along with her family and after completing her Bachelor of Arts, received her Master of Arts degree in Romance Languages from the University of Cincinnati. She later moved back to Italy where she married Bortolo Pradal in 1961. Shortly after, they returned to America and settled in Cincinnati, OH where they had their two children, John and Antonella. They would have celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary this June.
Mary had a kind, gentle and loving spirit and a quite strength that was readily discernable by all who came to know her. She held various positions throughout her life ranging from foreign language teacher to high school librarian, but none held more meaning to her than her family. Her true passion in life was for her husband, children and grandchildren. Mary greatly enjoyed being with her whole family, whether at home during family dinners, traveling on family vacations or even just speaking with them on the phone. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. And later in life she especially loved her role as grandmother, affectionately known as ‘Nina.’ She will be sorely missed, but never forgotten.
Mary was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Domenic J. Foglia (Rochester, NY), and her mother, Bianca (nee Vitolo). She is survived by her loving husband Bortolo, her son, John Pradal; her daughter Antonella Warren, husband Larry and their two children, Daniel and Rebecca Warren; her brother Silvino R. Foglia and daughter, Jennifer; and her sister Catherine Bishop, and her children Fred, Bianca and their families.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 5th, 2021 at the Holy Ghost Church of Wood Dale, IL at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation. Flowers may be sent to the family at Geils Funeral Home, Bensenville, IL. Arrangements handled by Geils Funeral Home. For information, please call: (630) 766-3232.
