Ellen Piepenbrink June 1, 1922 - November 10, 2020

Ellen Piepenbrink, 98, of Bensenville passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2020.  She was born in Chicago on June 1, 1922 the daughter of William and Ellen (Chilton) Keller.  In the 1940’s she met the love of her life, Erwin and on April 15,1944 he made her the very lucky Mrs. Piepenbrink.  The two settled down in Mt Prospect and gave each other the greatest gift of all and had their first child in 1945.  After a couple years, they purchased a home where O’hare airport currently sits and had the building relocated to York Rd in Bensenville, IL.  They had a loving family life and raised their children to all three be successful and happy adults themselves.  Erwin passed away in 1991 and she lived that last 29 years of her life enjoying her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  She was the devoted and nurturing matriarch of four generations whose tradition of love and family will live on through all her kin who will miss her dearly.

She is survived by her 2 daughters: Judy (George) Fiene and Jo Ann (David) Fiene; her son: John William (Janet) Piepenbrink; her 6 granddaughters: Kristie (Brian) Smutzer, Karen (Brian) Runowski, Meg Piepenbrink, Sarah Horn, Erin (John) Miller, and Kate Horn and fiance Andrew Braley; her 3 grandsons: Brian (Jenn) Fiene, Jeff (Becky) Fiene, and John Douglas Piepenbrink and fiance Kelsey Stiles; her 4 great grandsons: Braden Fiene, Jake Smutzer, Colton Miller, and Landon Miller; and her great granddaughter: Emma Smutzer; as well as multiple other family members and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Erwin Piepenbrink.

A visitation and funeral service will be held at Geils Funeral Home, 180 S York Rd, Bensenville, IL 60106 on Thursday, November 19, 2020 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM with the funeral taking place at 11:00 AM.  Following we will process to the cemetery for interment. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society Arrangements were handled by Geils Funeral Home, 180 S York Rd, Bensenville, IL 60106.  For information, please call: (630) 766-3232.
