Carol Ann Anderson passed away peacefully on January 26 at the age of 84 after a long and fierce battle with Parkinson’s. She is survived by Robert V. (“Bob”), her husband of over 63 years. She was devoted to her three sons, Bob, Tim and Terry as well as to her eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren, always reminding them in word and deed that “you only go around once!”
Carol was born in Gary, Indiana on July 31, 1936 to Henry and Elizabeth (nee Menning) Mutchinsky, and
was later joined by her sister Marilyn (“Mimi”) Tortorice. She graduated Tolleston H.S. in 1953, and then obtained her beautician license before moving to Chicago where she met her husband-to-be through mutual friends. After spending four married years in the city, Carol and Bob moved to Bensenville in 1962 and have resided in the same home to this day.
As the child-rearing duties wound down, Carol spent as much time as she could golfing socially with friends as well as competitively in the leagues at White Pines Golf Course, where she also was one of the founding members of the Youth Golf Program. Carol was also able to indulge her passion for travel, and ultimately found her “happy place” to be the Palm Springs area of California where she and Bob spent many winter and spring months over the course of the last 30 + years.
A private service will be held for Carol, and in lieu of flowers, if you would like to make a donation, please do so in Carol’s name to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, of which she was a passionate supporter. Carol’s family would appreciate the addition of any memories, stories or any other information about her life that you would like to share on her memory page at http://carol-ann-anderson.forevermissed.com.
