Benito Gallegos, 64, of Wood Dale passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2021. He was born in Mexico on March 21, 1956 the son of Adalberto Gallegos and Caritina Guttierez. As a child, growing up in Manzanitos, Michoacan Mexico, a young friend by the name Inocencia Gomez became his best friend and ultimately the two became lovebirds in their early teens. This romance blossomed and they were the love of each other’s lives. He made her the lucky bride and the new Mrs. Inocencia Gallegos on April 28, 1977 in that small town in Mexico. In 1981 he came to the United States in search of work to help support his family. The entire family was finally all able to reunite in the US in 1990. They started in Addison and ultimately moved to Lombard and then Wood Dale in October 1993 where they raised their 12 children. He was the patriarch of four generations and he will forever be missed.
He is survived by a very large family including his wife Inocencia Gomez, 12 children, 26 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 3 half brothers, 5 half sisters, as well as multiple friends and family.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
There will be a visitation held on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Geils Funeral Home, 260 W Irving Park Rd, Wood Dale, IL 60191 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. A funeral mass will take place the following morning on Friday, January 22, 2021 at St Alexis Catholic Church, 400 W Wood Ave, Bensenville, IL 60106 at 10:00 AM.
